ITS2012 Bangkok

International Telecommunications Society (ITS) is an association of professionals in the information, communications, and technology sectors. ITS is an independent, non-aligned and not-for-profit organization with a worldwide network of about 400 members. ITS provides a forum where academic, private sector, and government communities can meet to identify pressing new problems and issues, share research results, and form new relationships and approaches to address outstanding issues. ITS focuses on the evolving applications, services, technology, and infrastructure of the communications, computing, Internet, information content, and related industries. The goal of ITS is to research and analyze issues related to the emergence of a global information society. The organization places particular emphasis on the interrelationships among socioeconomic, technological, legal, regulatory, competitive, organizational, policy, and ethical dimensions of the issues it addresses

The ITS conference is a good academic event for the gathering of experts and their researches in telecom field. It was a good opportunity that I had a chance to give my presentation at the biennial conference which is held once over two years. Upon giving the presentation there, I got a chance to discuss and exchange ideas with researchers and representatives from business and public sector. That inspired me of the potential development of future research and complemented my current stage of thesis composition. I strongly  recommend attending conferences of the ITS, especially for those who attempt to produce quality research and bridge the gap between theory and practice as well as obtain global connection of academic network of experts with related specialty. — C. On 18-23 November 2012,

We have had an opportunity to attend the ITS 19th Biennial Conference and the ITS 4th PhD Seminar. The conference track theme was focused on various issues in telecommunications field such as Opening Platforms and New Services, Competition and Regulation in Transition Economies, Innovative Solutions for the Business Sector. The students in our Digital Society and also Professor Mitomo took this chance to express our viewpoints on the issues and join the discussions that greatly sparked the debates. All the students felt they were able to widely broaden their perspectives on their studies and research by exchanging thoughts with individuals from various universities worldwide. Professor Mitomo was also interviewed by the Thai media on his opinions regarding the 3G service which has been a hotly debate issue in Thailand recently. Lastly, we were all deeply impressed by the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission for the wonderful event that they have hosted in Thailand.

It was good opportunity for me to exchange views with various experts from all over the world. I have received precious comments to my presentation. I thanks the ITS Bangkok staff very much for all the efforts which brought us the great success. — Y. Hatakeyama
