27th ITS European Regional Conference announced

On the heels of other ITS conferences happening this year, the European Regional Conference was recently announced for September 8-10th, 2016.
The event will be cohosted in Cambridge, United Kingdom, by Anglia Ruskin University and the University of Cambridge. A call for papers has already been issued on the ITS website, and panel submissions are also welcomed; deadline for submissions is March 7th.
The topic of the conference will be on the north-south digital divide and relevant topics.

Deadline extension for ITS Taiwan

The deadline for abstracts for the 21st Biennial ITS conference to be held this summer in Taipei has been extended to February 1st. The deadline for the 10th PhD seminar has also been extended, to April 10th. The PhD seminar of the ITS conference is a great opportunity for young researchers to present their work and get top level feedback, and many past students of digital society have presented there. So, get writing!

To all of digital society’s friends, present and past, we wish you a wonderful, fruitful 2016.

2016 will be a busy year for us, with three ITS conferences – the 2016 African Regional ITS Conference in Accra, Ghana (March 10-11, 2016), the 2016 Biennial Conference in Taiwan (June 26-29, 2016) and the 27th European Regional Conference in Cambridge (September 8-10, 2016) – as well as many other activities, both in Japan and overseas.

So watch this space, and may the new year be filled with health and success in all your endeavours.

JSICR meeting on ICT for emergency response and resilience

This Friday, November 6th, Waseda University will be hosting the 1st Japan Society of Information and Communication Research (JSICR) meeting on ICT for emergency response and resilience. The presenters will cover topics such as, among others, the role of media, applications of big data and the interplay of social capital and ICT in emergency situations. Participation is free.
